Verbavela is a small, independent publisher from Puerto Rico, and we are opening our catalog to other authors. If you have a finished book, we want to read it.
What we look for
- Novels, short stories, poetry, essays, children’s books and nonfiction. We are not tied to one genre.
- Works in Spanish or English (or both).
- Finished manuscripts, unpublished or with rights that are yours.
- Also new translations and editions of public-domain texts, if they bring something of their own.
What we do with your book
- Editing and proofreading.
- A cover and, if the book calls for it, illustrations.
- The EPUB, ready for Kindle, Apple Books, Google Play Books and any reader.
- Sales on verbavela.com and Amazon, and a place on our social media.
Our terms
- Publishing with us costs you nothing. We do not charge to read, edit, design or publish your book.
- You earn 50% of net receipts on every sale, in every format: what actually reaches us after the store’s or Amazon’s cut is split equally. If we pay for the translation into another language, that edition pays you 40%.
- We pay you every quarter, with a statement by book and by channel.
- You keep your copyright. You grant us a license to publish the book in digital and print-on-demand editions for 5 years, renewable, and the rights return to you if we do not publish it or if it stops selling.
All of this goes into a written contract we sign with each author before we start.

If the form gives you trouble, write to [email protected] with the subject “Manuscript: book title”, the synopsis, the file and a few lines about yourself.
We read every submission and answer each one.
