There he saw seven stars like great burning mountains, bound because they did not come forth at their appointed times: the prison of the stars.<\/p>\n<p>Uriel, Raphael, Raguel and Michael go with him and answer him. Raphael explains the hollow places where the souls of the dead assemble until the day of judgment, and shows him the spirit of Abel, making suit against Cain. Michael explains the mountain whose summit is like the throne of God, and the tree of fragrance beyond all fragrance whose fruit will be given to the righteous.<\/p>\n<p>Then Enoch crosses the desert of the trees of frankincense and myrrh, passes over the Erythraean Sea, and comes to the Garden of Righteousness, where stands the tree of wisdom from which the first parents ate. And at the ends of the earth he sees the portals of heaven, through which come the stars, the winds, the dew and the rain.<\/p>\n<h3>What is original in this edition<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>68 original full-color illustrations (57 scenes, 8 maps of the journeys and 3 in the introduction), each beside its passage.<\/li>\n<li>A summary at the start of every chapter and an introduction.<\/li>\n<li>A pronunciation glossary of names and a note on the sources.<\/li>\n<li>Charles&#8217;s 1917 translation in modern English (you, not ye or thou).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What it contains<\/h3>\n<p>Volume 2 of 6, with chapters 17 to 36 of 1 Enoch complete, closing the Book of the Watchers. It is not the whole Book of Enoch, which has 108 chapters: volume 1 holds chapters 1 to 16, and the next volumes continue from chapter 37.<\/p>\n<p><small>The modernization, summaries and illustrations were made with the help of AI, directed, selected and reviewed by the editor.
